Biotak Fungicide

An innovative broad-spectrum biological fungicide that protects plants from common fungal diseases in nurseries and greenhouses.

Benefits of Biotak Fungicide

  • The most concentrated biological fungicide on the market due to its pure spore formulation — setting the standard for quality, purity and performance reliability
  • Targets a broad spectrum of diseases
  • Suppresses foliar diseases
  • Protects the root system early in the production cycle
  • Promotes healthier soil/growing media by preventing disease
  • Can be tank mixed or used in rotation with conventional chemistries
  • Favorable toxicological and environmental profile makes it a flexible option for disease control
  • With no recordable residue, Biotak allows for greater flexibility by extending the window of application, especially near harvest time

How It Works

  • Biotak’s active ingredient is Bacillus amyloliquefaciens strain MBI600. It is a beneficial spore-forming, rod-shaped bacterium, that colonizes the plant (root/leaf) surfaces to form a protective shield that prevents fungal diseases from taking hold.
  • Biotak works best as a preventative treatment before disease pathogens have established on the plant. Application before major disease pressure gives Biotak time to germinate, colonize the plant surface and produce its disease-fighting metabolites.
  • Biotak forms a “shield of protection” against a broad spectrum of plant pathogens in three ways:
    • Production of anti-fungal metabolites: Biotak produces specific metabolites that prevent different species of pathogens from germinating. The metabolites cause the pathogen spores and growing hyphae to collapse by disrupting their cell membrane.
    • Competition for space: Moreover, by being the first to occupy the limited space on the plant, Biotak physically excludes plant pathogens from colonizing on the plant foliage.
    • Competition for resources: Biotak also depletes the supply of nutrients on the plant surface so that pathogen spores are starved to death.

Diseases Suppressed

  • Botrytis grey mould (Botrytis cinerea)
  • Downy mildew (Pseudoperonospora cubensis)
  • Early blight (Alternaria solani)
  • Powdery mildew (Leveillula taurica)
  • Powdery mildew (Sphaerotheca fuliginea [syn. Podosphaera xanthii])
  • White mould ((Sclerotinia sclerotiorum) (partial suppression)
  • Damping-off and root diseases caused by Fusarium spp., Rhizoctonia solani and Pythium spp.
